Okay; making a daily entry has proved to be quite difficult. Guess more of a monthly entry is ideal for me right now. Although last month did have a few highlights. Vegas...Vegas, Vegas, Vegas. That was awesome. I think I need to move out west. The climate is fantastic, easy to breath, no stuffy noses in the morning, no mosquitoes at night, no rain (usually), no lawn to mow, scantily clad girls bringing me drinks. This is my kind of town. Didn't win any money; in fact lost plenty; but that's pretty much what we expected. Alas, here I am, home again. At least we snapped several pictures to remember the trip: Vegas 06 Gallery. Ironically while we were gone I think the cats, bunny and even somehow the fish went into a fur shedding cycle that caused a super overload to my allergies. I was almost certain I had a cold for the first few days after we were back from Vegas; until it became quite obvious that my throat started closing up whenever I pet a kitty. Well lots of liquids, tissues and Benadryl later things are calming down (although still not great). Finishing up the month is pretty good. Finally found a car that I like for not too bad a price up in Wisconsin. Drove up to Waukesha and test drove it. Ended up driving it home. Nice little blue '04 Honda Civic Coupe; looks like this . Should serve my needs perfectly. Just needed some new wiper blades and vacuum/dusting on the inside and it looks alright. Now for the fun of the BMV (a.k.a. Satan's Asshole) to get the plates since I couldn't have them auto-registered with the dealer because it was out-of-state. Oh well; at least I don't have to coordinate getting to the BMV with when Kim doesn't have the car. -MAP |

Wow has it been a while since writing last. Probably because I've been so damn busy. With cPanel's glorious "updates"; servers have been breaking and requiring upgrades all around plus the grsecurity updates for the new kernel series; the last few weeks have been a drain. I find it amazing that they (cPanel) can simply institute a change that will effect all users of a STABLE and RELEASE version instead of putting these untested and obviously broken "features" into their EDGE category. How they didn't forsee issues like this is amazing to me, but whatever, they aren't going to lose business at this point so I'm sure they aren't worried about it. Add all of that to losing a main harddrive on my personal machine during the busiest week served to do nothing but put an extra hitch in the shifts. I ran out and got a new 300Gb sata drive to replace the 250 that died (damn Dell putting crappy Maxtor in their systems). I'm still going to get a replacement drive from Dell since it's under warrantee and if anything else just sell it on ebay to front some of the cost for the one I had to buy (a lovely seagate which actually seems faster). Most of the data was recoverable but some is lost. The critical stuff I of course had on a usb backup but it's still infuriating to lose games and installed programs that need to be compiled. In personal news Kim and considered moving back to Indiana and ultimately decided that between the amount it would cost to commute, fees for breaking our current lease, cost of an additional car and the pay cut Kim would get if she worked for a company in Indiana other than Lilly (which seems impossible); moving would not be worth any type of trade off. I'm sure it would be pleasant to work with other people instead of at home but..eh..working at home isn't so bad either. It does give us the unique option to spend a lot more time together; otherwise we would hardly see each other because I work nights and she works days. Oh well, vacation is coming up in June (Vegas Baby) and I'm really looking forward to that. We went out and bought some new clothes and a new suitecase so we are almost ready to get out there. Until later. -MAP

The Blacked Eyed Peas concert this weekend freaking ruled! I must say that the cover bands were a bit of a disappointment; but when aren't they. -MAP

Okay; what is it with some days? So there's ddos attacks across the board; and servers are crashing left and right for one reason or another. Ugh. UGH! It makes me exhausted; Friday's are supposed to be calm. Too tired to write more. bah. -MAP |

Okay, yes, I'm 24 years old *and* yes, I just got my drivers license today. The tears are real. I have had my permit for about the last year...just no real urge to go through the whole motion of fighting the bmv crowds. Actually, I was quite surprised at how fast the process was. *Note to self: When going to the BMV, go on Wednesday before 4pm....it flies. Under no circumstance go on a weekend. Okay great, I work at home so where am I going to drive to? I guess the liquor store; I am out of scotch Alright, truthfully the ID will be useful if I get to go to Vegas in June like we are planning. Perhaps more to come later. Perhaps not. -MAP |
